Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how AssignAI (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use myassign.ai, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Cyprus data-protection law.
1. Who we are (data controller)
The data controller is Anton Charalambidis, an individual sole trader based in Limassol, Cyprus. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us at support@myassign.ai.
2. Data we collect
Information you provide
- Account data — your email address and name when you sign up (including via Google sign-in), and an optional university and course you can add in settings.
- Content you submit — the briefs, drafts, text, and any documents (e.g. PDF uploads) you provide to the tools, and the output generated for you.
- Billing data — when you subscribe, your payment is handled by Stripe; we receive your subscription status and a Stripe customer reference, but not your full card number.
- Communications — messages you send us by email.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — records of the tools you use and the amount of text processed, to operate allowances and improve reliability.
- Technical data — limited log and request data, including IP address, used for security and rate-limiting.
We do not run advertising or third-party analytics trackers. See our Cookie Policy.
3. How and why we use your data (lawful bases)
- To provide the Service — create your account, process your inputs, generate and save your outputs, and manage your subscription. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To keep the Service secure — prevent abuse, enforce usage limits, and protect users. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests.
- To take payment — process subscriptions and comply with tax/accounting duties. Lawful basis: contract and legal obligation.
- To support and communicate with you — respond to your messages and send service notices. Lawful basis: contract and legitimate interests.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or to train third-party models beyond what is necessary to generate your requested output.
4. AI processing of your content
To generate output, the content you submit is sent to third-party AI providers (see below) which process it and return a result. Please avoid submitting sensitive personal data or confidential third-party information you are not authorised to share.
5. Who we share your data with (sub-processors)
We share data only with service providers that help us run the Service, under appropriate agreements:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting (your account and saved work).
- Vercel — application hosting and content delivery.
- OpenAI and/or OpenRouter — AI model providers that process your inputs to generate output.
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
- Crossref and OpenAlex — scholarly databases queried to verify citations (we send reference details such as titles and authors).
- Google — only if you choose “Sign in with Google”, to authenticate you.
We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect our legal rights.
6. International transfers
Some of our providers are located outside the European Economic Area (for example, in the United States). Where your data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the providers’ own compliance frameworks — to protect it.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep your account data and saved work for as long as your account is active. You can delete saved work at any time using “Clear history”, and you can delete your entire account from settings, which removes your associated data. We may retain limited records where necessary to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations or to resolve disputes.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate data (you can edit your profile in settings);
- erase your data (“Clear history” or delete your account);
- export your data (you can export your saved work from settings);
- restrict or object to certain processing; and
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any right, email support@myassign.ai. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection (Cyprus) (dataprotection.gov.cy) or your local supervisory authority.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and database row-level security so users can only access their own data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children
The Service is for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes & contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time; we will revise the “Last updated” date above. For any privacy question, contact Anton Charalambidis at support@myassign.ai, Limassol, Cyprus.
